Hello everyone,I need some advice on how to proceed with marketing while I’m currently understaffed.A bit about my business, I am a cofounder of a brick and mortar ice cream shop, me and my partner are currently the only ones working the shop along with occasional help from my family member on the weekends. We opened the shop on our own with no outside investments. The process started last year around November and with COVID we had to delay a lot of things which led to losing a good chunk of money on rent and other expenses while we teetered in limbo. After a long wait, we had everything in order to open in June of this year and we didn’t want to delay the process any longer by doing interviews and hiring people so we decided go ahead and jump in by ourselves with the notion that at some point we would hire some help.Fast forward to now, luckily we have had steady business (mostly from passerbys)and for the most part things have been operating smoothly. However, we have noticed that we are in need of some marketing to help attract more customers, and make sure we are known beyond the neighborhood we are located in. My partner wants to jump in and market on radio, television, etc. I however, am a bit worried that if we begin marketing so extensively and we get a lot of people coming in, that we are going to do more harm than good seeing as we are understaffed. I feel like this could create a problem in regards to wait times, and even inventory ( I forgot to mention we make all of our ice cream) I know it’s important to get help so we don’t burn out, but I’m nervous about hiring people on and what that will mean with the looming uncertainty of COVID.Should I start actively marketing my business even though we are understaffed and unsure of hiring someone anytime soon? Should I just bite the bullet and hire someone anyway? We are both severely inexperienced, and learning as we go, so any input would be greatly appreciated! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
