Business owners: Do you have more knowledge then your employees about the service/ product you offer?

My uncle has a Roofing company with 4 employees and admitted that his employees know much more about roofing then him. He says he just focuses on getting clients and marketing the business and making sure the employees complete the work.Does anybody feel this way, My family is full of business owners and all seem to have this. For example My Dad owns a Painting company and honestly doesn’t know much about painting and has 3 employees that do all the painting. He only has literally 2 years of painting experience and has admitted that he just focuses on growing the business and doesn’t know much about painting. Like literally yesterday someone called him to get an rough estimate on painting their room and he told them he was busy and then called his employee and told him what the customer said and then called back the customer telling him the price. I asked him “ you own the company, aren’t you supposed to know the pricing” and he replies, “ well I know business and that’s all that matters” It honestly surprised me how he makes like 200k a year and doesn’t know much about the pricing and painting in general. Same thing goes for my dads friend that owns a Accounting firm, he isn’t a CPA and instead hires CPA to do the work. Are most business owners like this? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
