I’ve been extremely fortunate in that my (entirely remote, digital) work has not only survived COVID-19, but actually flourished.Early in the pandemic, I was terrified that work would begin to evaporate, slow, or even disappear altogether as the small/medium businesses I served faced challenges of their own. So, I knuckled down and worked to grow my business during this period, expecting 10-30% attrition. The result was that my (personal) pull grew from an annualized $200K/year to about $300K/year instead. Very exciting, and again I am extremely grateful. However, zero clients have left. In fact, all of them are doing better than ever, making me busier than ever as well. And now I’m working about 30% more than I’m comfortable with. I can manage it, but just barely, and the benefits of this position feel like they’re overwhelmed by the time drain I’m facing.Should I begin to release clients? Should I wait until a vaccine seems to stabilize the world? Until the election is over? I can handle most things when there’s a timetable for change, but I’m just not sure when I’ll feel confident that we’re in a period of economic stability again.FYI: on hiring someone else. I’m not sure this is feasible. Revenues would allow me to financially, and I’d like to be a job creator. But I’ve tried interns and employees in the past and the unusual mix of what I do (and how I do it, at all hours of the day) is really hard to pass along. My talents for delegation are still developing. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
