I’m a 25M working for the DoD. Currently making $60k/yr and set to be making $90k/yr by January 2021, $85k guaranteed by that time. I’ll be only 26 by then as I just turned 25.Currently I have my own real estate photography business I do on the side. Make between $300-$500 per house I shoot. I don’t even advertise as I don’t think I can balance both my full time job with the DoD and photography if I get too many more clients. Also my monthly expenses between subscriptions and equipment is between $425-700. This should lower in a few months. My DoD jobs best perk is allowing 4, 10hr work days instead of 5 8hr work days. So I get every Friday off or I can change it around if I want to. This makes it easier to balance both jobs as the DoD is actually pretty flexible with hours. They also match 5% to my TSP (TSP is government version of a 401k). So I give 5% to my TSP and 2% to a ROTH IRA.My plan is to get some real estate properties and turn them into rentals in the next few years (many of my family members do this so I have plenty of resources.)However recently I have been getting more and more real estate photography jobs. I always wanted to run my own business and be my own boss, but I am hesitant. I worked so hard to get this job and work really hard at it. If I wait till I’m making $90k/yr at 26, I am afraid I might never walk away.Should I wait until I have a few rental properties to ensure some income? Should I just say fuck it and go fully into my photography business? Very conflicted and would love advice from someone who had a similar problem. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
