How do you actually get a product built from scratch?

I have an idea for a fairly low-priced product to bring to the market but I’ve never done this before.Am i correct in stating that I would need to find a manufacturer that deals with similar items and see if they can build it? If so, do I need to create the designs myself including sizes, material etc or would the manufacturer do / help with this or require a 'product designer'?The product is a simple and fairly small with little functionality using plastic material so nothing too complex and does not require any technical designing / infrastructure at all. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
