Launching a brand using online ads and influencer marketing only?

Hiring influencers for the launch of a brand?Any input for a brand that uses online ads and influencer marketing only for their launch vs a brand that starts off sharing their products with people that they know, promoting their products themselves etc?Just in case this question isn't clear enough let's use an example.Let's say... my name is daisy and I want to start an online clothing brand. I want to run it virtually (online) primarily for the beginning stages, I'm starting out with 0 followers, 0 connections, totally starting from scratch. So for the launch, plan A goes a little something like this;Create the website (product development/clothing is already ready to go)Run adsHire influencers to market productsSet up social mediasIn that order.I'm wondering if doing things in this order is likely to yield results, please keep in mind this strategy would be for the launch of the brand, if you think this is not enough to maintain or grow a brand please do not focus on that thought because as I said I'm asking about this strategy for the launch. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Anyone wanna take over a dropshipping niche? It’s been very successful but I’m ready to try to find some more successful avenues to go down. Read below.

So firstly I definitely want to be paid for passing over my information. I’ve been doing this since November 2020 and I’ve consistently made $100-300 daily, been a few days I’ve made $800 or more. So I’m not going to give out the niche but it’s nothing from China, it’s not electronics. These are used products that were mass produced and cost anywhere from $100-$400. They’re not in boxes and don’t have bar codes. This is a different style of drop shipping. I spent a few months trying the whole Ali express thing and was making peanuts. I’ve had a lot of success with this but it’s like I’m almost bored of it. If you’re new to drop shipping I’d be willing to teach you or if you’re a pro and just looking for something new just let me know! Thanks. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Angel Investing Pre-Revenue: How much to ask for vs How much ownership to give up?

Two other co-founders and I recently launched a SaaS start up in the EdTech space. We are no longer technically pre-revenue, as we are on track to hit about $250K - $500K in ARR (a couple of late stage deals in the pipeline would put us on the higher end of that range), but we all are still working full time jobs elsewhere. We are now actively pursuing Angel Investment so that we can start doing this full time, hire a team, scale, etc, but are in a bit of an odd scenario where we don't know exactly what's appropriate to ask for in terms of investment capital vs ownership stake for a company at our stage. If anyone has been in a similar boat, we could really use some advice!A few questions/comments. If there are resources in this Sub or elsewhere online, please point me in the right direction! We would like to ask for $600K, which combined with our current revenue & cash flows, would allow us to take a salary and hire a few key team members. We think this would give us about 18 month runway. Our industry typically uses a valuation multiple of 5x EBITDA or Revenue (I've seen both) for companies a bit farther along (i.e. Series A and later). We are no longer technically pre-revenue, but we are early enough along where we don't feel like basing our valuation on revenue or EBITDA at this point fairly values the business or the opportunity. $600K funding based on a revenue or EBITDA alone might mean giving up too much of the business. What is an appropriate valuation method for us? The Scorecard Valuation Method seems interesting, but I'm not sure how to assign a reasonable dollar valuation to that when we approach an investor. How much ownership should we give up? We don't want to give up more than 15% at this point, but maybe that's naïve.Any resources on how to start creating shares in the company and assigning a per share value?Should we take on debt at this point instead, and get equity investment later? What about convertible debt? We currently have zero debt and company is fully owned by the three of us. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Has anyone bought a website from a place like Flippa?

My wife owns her own business, and we are considering buying a website in a similar space. Advice on creating a LinkedIn "Leaving Job to Co-Found a Startup" Post

I was wondering if any of you have experience or advice when it comes to creating a LinkedIn post to announce the creation of a company and leaving your old position. I'm trying to:Thank the existing network and companyTalk about the aspiration of starting/co-founding ones own companyTalk a little bit about the company's values and the nameWe want to stay a little stealthy for now, and not unveil the product and business entirely, but I'll be pitching for sales to some within my network I want to make it clear I've left my old position. And to try and generate just a little bit of hype to be perfectly honest.I regret not saving more posts from my network when they were leaving their old positions and starting new ones, but I haven't seen many where they left their jobs to start companies. Do any of you have examples or tips when writing it? I'm not the strongest or most concise writer, so advice is appreciated. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

How do you write a business plan and validate when you’re copying a business idea?

I live in Australia and I see a lot of businesses ideas in the US and parts of Europe that I would like to start here in my city. I’ve done cursory research and found no one with a similar business idea and was curious if the business startup process was different when the idea has been validated and built elsewhere? Has anyone here brought a business to their local market that was working well in another community? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

What happens when you feel like giving up?

Hey. So as you can tell from the title I'm pretty down in the dumps right now. I hate it but it is what it is.I've been grinding this journey for a while now, working hard jobs to try and push the dream forward. I've faced family, financial, mental, physical, emotional challenges etc like I'm sure many of you also have.I knew business would not be easy. A good quote I once heard was 'Only do it if you can't not do it'. I'm passionate, driven and didn't think I was a dumbass even though I feel like one now.I think I'm at the end of the road though, some higher power just doesn't want me to succeed it feels like sometimes.I don't even know where I'm going with this post, I thought I needed encouragement but I don't? I'm mentally exhausted, my head actually hurts, I'm behind on rent and next months rent is due tomorrow lol my life is a meme right now.I think I'm slowly coming to the reality that even though I worked hard, the reality for me might just be that job I hate for the next 40 years but I work it in order to pay the bills. If I kill myself my family will be distraught and blame themselves and I don't want to put them in that position.I wish you all success in whatever you do see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Should I make a publish a Free public beta of my app?

Of course I screwed up the title.. Sorry about that, I should really get some sleepHey I've been working on an app for the past couple of months. I was thinking about making an public open beta of my app and launching it on ProductHunt. If there would be any interest, I would then open a company and implement payments. I'm wondering if this is a smart idea or not? Problem is that I can't open a company right now because I'm a student so I don't want to risk losing my student benefits(such as free healthcare) and then be left with nothing if the app fails. I'm a bit afraid that someone might take the idea and create a new app by the time I can set everything up for a proper full launch.. What do you think? I pitched the idea to some of my friends and they all said that it's a really cool app, but unfortunately they aren't really my targeted audience so I can't be sure really... Thanks! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

I'm finally launching my dev recruitment platform after nearly a year of delays. The goal is to simplify the process on both sides, the recruiters' and the devs'. The landing page just went live a few minutes ago.

DevTemple.tech is basically built to accommodate developers who hate having to update their CVs - or just dealing with that mess altogether and recruiters who don't want to be bombarded with applications that have nothing to do with the roles they're trying to fill. The goal is to use data to prescribe CTCs - and suggest suitable roles. Basically have the website be the job-hunter's assistant of sorts. They only get communication if a recruiter is legit interested in interviewing them - otherwise, no spam. That was a mouthful. So, would anyone be open to sharing some feedback on the landing page? 90% of it is not yet functional - just a heads-up. Also, it only works on desktop.https://devtemple.tech/ see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

ProtTip - The BSR in most "sales estimators" is greatly exaggerated

Kinda like finding hot singles in your area. They need you to believe that products with low reviews are making 1000s of unit sales because of their BSR.They want you to see an "opportunity"Now for the facts:5%-10% of buyers leave reviews. Sometimes it can be about 1% of the total # of seller orders get feedback but it's rare. So if a BSR claims listing does 1500 units per month, you can expect 50-150 reviews/month.This is like influencers with "views" but no merch turnover or engagements on their socials. The products that are touted as hidden gems have things like 10-20 reviews total. They sell you the dream like it's easy to make money on Amazon with a little arbitrage. You just need $2,000 to get started.Don't forget to pay them $99/month for their "sales estimator". Further, I think they do branded content with Youtuber and Udemy and sell it as an "education" to poor unsuspecting people who want to get into eCommerce. I know shopify used to actively allow people to manipulate the dashboards by adding "offline" sales, which you can then show your friends how much you are making from dropshipping or ecom.Love to hear your thoughts! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

We are live on Product Hunt🤩🤩🤩!!!

To be honest, I'm a bit afraid as PH is a big step in our validation, and I also know you guys can be mean 😂.I started building Slice 6 months before COVID-19 start, only focusing on the legal infrastructure without talking to potential users, so now I got a second chance to do it right this time!In short, Slice is a new and simple way to trade and invest in real estate by introducing fractional shares of rental properties. I shared our LP a week ago +-.We are live on the upcoming product page of Product Hunt intending to talk to as many users as possible to understand better what properties you care about, how to build your trust, and later to provide early access to our platform. How to position myself as a web-developer and starting my own company

Hi there,I discovered my love for programming 5 years ago when stumpling upon a course at university. However, it took 4 years to realize that it's really what I want to do, so last year I started learning it seriously.I now have a basic grasp of how to do web development and aim to become knowledgeable in what is called "full-stack" - i.e. both knowing how to handle databases and what happens "behind" a website, as well as "front-end" i.e. how the user interact with the website. Added to this I'm learning SEO to learn how to help clients get the best out their website and attract as good and as many leads as possible.I estimate that in around 6 months I will be ready to take on my first real project.I'm planning to reach out to local businesses in my area and maybe do some freelancing online. However, I'm a bit unsure of how to position my business. Right now the small businesses often have a Wordpress website, or something similar to this - which is a lot cheaper than developing a custom website.I have worked some with wordpress and to be honest - I hate it. I feel limited and just feel claustrophobic from it. With coding, even if it's way much demanding, I feel free and love it. So I really want to create something where I can code - but I'm not sure on how to position myself and the benefits from having a customized website.Maybe someone with simliar experience can give their five cents? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

200+ redditors on r/entrepreneur have spoken: if your ecommerce store isn't selling, your product's price is likely NOT the issue!

there is a common misconception that if you want to increase sales, you should lower your pricehowever, that is not necessarily true. a good business does not have to compete on price, because that is a race to the bottom. a good business competes on quality and innovation, and charges accordinglyin a recent post on this sub, 200+ redditors responded on factors that make them leave an ecommerce site right away... and price was NOT an issue!what are the main issues that would cause a customer to leave your ecom site?common factors include:poor ui designmandatory sign ups/account creationtypos and poor languagechat botsunknown shipping ratespop-ups (like spin to win games, so and so bought this x hours ago)slow load timesputting to cart to see pricenon-professional imageseverything is on "sale"poor return policylow quality contentauto playing videosnon mobile optimizationobvious dropship from alibabathe actual product's price, if high, was never mentioned as a factor for leaving a sitewhat can we learn from this?if your product isn't selling, fix your site, fix your marketing, but don't fix your pricerace to be the best, do not race to the bottom see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

How much product should I order?

I have an idea for a business, and essentially I will be building a brand. It’ll start out by selling t-shirts. I know, everyone does this, but mine has a difference.Due to this difference, the idea of print-on-demand is completely out the window. I need to order stock in advance to then sell.So do I: a) Order a very small quantity, and see how it sells (obviously I’ll be promoting the living daylights out of it anyway) and by small, I mean around 25 unitsb) Take a gamble and order a larger amount (i.e. 100 units) and hit the ground running with the stock? The benefits of a is that it’s a lower risk, but I could lose out on potential sales if it goes out of stock too quicklyObviously as I said, b is more of a gamble, however it also means that if it takes off in the way I would hope, that I won’t run out of stock as quickly. What are your thoughts? Play it safe, or take a risk? There is little doubt in my mind that it won’t sell, it’s just over what time period. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

I quit my 6 figure tech job to officially build my own dating app.

Guys just hear me out. I want to tell my story and explain why I made this decision. And even if you find it crazy, then at least you should know my story. It's an amazing feeling when one day you just decide to take a different path than the one everyone else followed. You are left with that sensation of "What if it doesn't work? What if I fail?" I quit my software engineer job to pursue the entrepreneurial dream for over half a year now, and you want to know something?  It feels good. No, you're definitely not crazy to think that way, so I'll try and answer the second thought you might be having: why should you build a dating app?I'll start off with why I got into tech in the first place. Back in 2015 a dating app called "Plenty Of Fish" sold its company to Match Group for $575 million dollars. I was super curious as to why. So I downloaded the app myself. I had the worst experience ever! It was the worst user interface I've ever seen. I told myself I could do so much better if I only had the tech skills. So I started my tech journey and became an engineer myself. Fast forwards 6 years and here I am, doing exactly what I envisioned all those years ago!"What's da Catch?"It's the name of my dating app. Catchy isn't it? (Pun intended.)Here's what makes WDC different: it's all about being straightforward with your intentions. No one wants to spend time and emotional energy for weeks talking to someone who never was on the same page in the first place. That's no longer an issue.Basically, for every person you match with, you choose one of three intentions: Date, Friends, or Something Casual. You'll both see what the other person chooses. From there, you decide whether or not you want to engage in a conversation. If you aren't sure about your initial intentions, no worries. Start a conversation and within 30 minutes to an hour, we will hit you with a prompt asking you "What's Da Catch? How do you feel about xyz? That way, we can try to save you endless small talk and get you straight to the point. The app is still in the works, But you can come to check out the website and keep on the lookout for future updates and app releases. What are your tips for building a community around a theme? My initial plans aren’t working.

This request is a bit atypical, but hopefully I can put it into words.I want to create a community based around group motivation, creativity, working hard towards a better personal future, etc., so I put a few dollars towards a .com (joinmirai) and personal google email address ($6/mo). I’m calling the entire project ‘Mirai’ which is Japanese for ‘the future’ or ‘the world to come’.Quick aside — I’ve fallen in love with some YouTube channels that run these 24/7 chill/ambient/lo-fi hip hop music streams, and found that the majority of people that join and chat are students who are studying, doing homework, or working on some project or goal. It’s quite motivational and everyone seems to enjoy the background ambience and friendly community - almost like a ‘group study’ atmosphere.Back to Mirai — I setup a Discord for Mirai and came up with a tag line ‘crowdsourced learning and ‘study with me’ community’ , but I can’t get anyone to join the Discord.I’ve been thinking it’s not very focused enough yet, and maybe I should create a YouTube channel as for my first community point - and either create some ‘study with me’ videos where people watch me study/work, or create a live music channel which is similar to the channels I mentioned above?I haven’t been able to really pinpoint what my long term goal is and how to best spend my energy and time driving people to this ‘idea’. Any suggestions? Community building is really hard, as you probably know. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Would starting up a car dealership between 5 people be profitable?

We are thinking of dropping around 150-200k to start off in Ohio. We’re thinking of going with a cheap franchise and having 2-3 of us spend all our time on marketing and getting sales while the other 2 mainly do the selling/maintenance/handling customers.Does this sound feasible to do between 5 people? How to optimise myself and keep mentally healthy whilst starting a business?

26, M, live at home with my parents. Unemployed and single for 3 years. I'm in the ideal situation to really push this business (recruitment) and make a success of it. This is my chance to free myself and finally get my life moving forward; a life which hasn't gotten anywhere until now because of poor life choices.Overheads are low ($1000 per month), took 6 months to launch which was a month ago and should land $5000 in the next couple of weeks. This has inspired me to really take this as seriously as I can. All of my time is spent in a bedroom whilst doing this so that comes with its challenges.I have no friends, I am single, I am hungry and full of dissatisfaction with no commitments outside of this. My mental health isn't great however, I have a few issues. Anxiety, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, regret, fear of abandonment and have suicidal thoughts which come and go. A lot of my free time outside of work is spent reading/listening about how to solve these issues in myself. Thankfully I do have the ability to "switch on" into a confident persona, and can mask it all very well in social/professional situations.I am keen to hear any advice from people about optimising myself to stay as mentally healthy as possible when building this business, and any tips at all with help with keeping momentum going when my demons resurface take hold of my mental state. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

(Interpersonal) 2 Person side hustle. My partner and I are not on the same page whatsoever about our method. Also, he is obtaining money from his parents to invest in our business. He will not tell me how much, or what he's spending it on. I need to navigate this correctly.

This is hard to write. Mainly because i'm a little bit infuriated at the situation.I won't go into our business methods or what we really do, or our pitch. My method includes taking photographs and scanning them, using software to separate and rotate them, and then saving them. I also am the one who is qualified to archive and develop a custom preservation solution for these photographs. My partner does none of this. What he does? Possess a camera. His job is to film our intake condition analysis, photograph damage we find on items, and take photos of each item next to a numbered identification card.He also is the one who retouches photographs as an additional service per client's request. He has done retouching of 4 photographs out of 16 total clients. He is also in charge of building our website and advertising. He has done none of that in the 3 months we've been running.So... what does he do? Looks for camera gear on the internet. He wants a specific, SUPER expensive piece of equipment that would allow him to... take pictures of photographs. I have explained to him over and over and over again that we do not need that. We have a scanner that does that job for us. But for the last 4 days, he has been on various different websites and blogs learning about different lenses and photography gear he's interested in.The camera, lenses, and equipment we have at the present moment is entirely sufficient for what we need to complete the entirety of services we offer. And then he slipped something. He said his dad has been giving him 'a lot' of money to invest in our business. He says he's using that money to buy more camera equipment. That we do not need. I asked him how much money he has spent on the equipment he has already bought for the business. He said he would never tell me, because that's his money. I don't really know if it is actually... his money or not. His dad said it was to invest in things we need for the business, but my partner thought that since the money came from his own father, he should use it on his own camera gear. So I cannot put any of those expenses on our finances forms. He refuses to talk to me about the money he spends, or what he buys for my business.I do know that he has $72,000 in savings. I have zero. and $70 in my bank account. He never offers to buy any archival supplies for our company. So I have to drop massive amounts of money on supplies all the time.I can't do this start-up alone. On top of that? We're engaged. Please don't give me any advice or remarks about the romantic relationship we have. Trust me, I know all the red flags.I need help pinpointing what is so blatantly unreasonable about this whole situation, and tips on how to beat him into shape when it comes to money transparency, and focusing on tasks that ABSOLUTELY need to be done. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Would you use a more difficult page builder if it meant having a substantially more optimized and user friendly website?

I’m a developer and I’m seriously debating trying to create a page builder that instead of drag and drop and plugins like Wordpress that bog down everything, to have a new type of page builder that won’t be as easy as drag and drop.I’m thinking text/query based. But will allow the website to be fully optimized, unlike Wordpress. Basically my question is, would you, as a business owner, be willing to spend more time on your site if it meant having a faster more Google and user friendly site? Thanks for any opinions! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Should I develop a mobile app, SaaS or wordpress plugins?

I'm a programmer that took a bootcamp. What do you think? Which one would you do? Each would require its own programming language, frameworks, etc. so I'd rather do a string of one then a couple of each. Thanks see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Best communities/subreddits/websites to get valuable website feedback?

We launched our SaaS product a few months ago now. I'm looking for ways to improve our website to increase conversions - I've been running FB ads but the conversion rate is lower than I'd like. I'm not sure if it's the copywriting, the design, or just a matter of finding the right audience. Right now I'm looking for avenues to collect feedback. Are there any websites out there that offer these sorts of feedback services in a publicly crowdsourced way (or have professionals review and offer feedback)? Are there good subreddits for requesting feedback? Am I allowed to create a thread or ask in here or is that considered "self promotion"?Are there other online communities you're aware of that offer this? Thanks! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

I'm more successful than ever and yet i'm depressed

I'm 22. I'm 4 classes away from graduating with a degree in business finance. I'm on the finance board for the civil air patrol, the official auxiliary of the air force. I'm teaching myself web design and programming. I have a work/study desk job at Amazon. A buddy of mine went on a ten day hiking trip and put me in charge of his trucking business in his absence and he's really impressed with my performance and seems interested in continuing our professional relationship. I'm getting sober. I work out and read every day...and I'm fucking miserable. Maybe part of it is corona isolation and everybody going home for the summer and me having so many obligations in my college town. I don't know what it is, but this is the worst I've felt in a while. My biggest contact is my room mate who acts friendly with me, but I get the vibe he hates me. I feel like he's constantly trying to plant negative thoughts in my head. The obvious solution is to stop hanging out with him, but it's him or isolation 5 days out of the week if you don't count work and CAP.is depression part of success? Is it really this lonely at the top or some shit. I don't even consider myself at the top. If I'm unhappy now, was my life better partying? Are these growing pains? Is it like that bible quote, "Go by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate that leads to destruction."? I hope this isn't coming off as a humble brag, I really want some likeminded people to give me guidance. I sigh my way through every day checking the boxes on my obligations and my habits and the 15 year old in me is constantly telling me to buy an ounce and play some video games, but something keeps stopping me see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

What would you do if nobody could say no to you?

Let’s say you were granted some magical power where nobody could say no to you(within reason, you can’t just sell rocks for a million dollars and have people lining up to buy them), what kind of service or products would you provide to people? Something with a very high markup and very little investment on your part. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

How to differentiate between gross profit margin expenses and net profit margin expenses?

Let’s say your cost basis for a product is $9. You sell said product for $27. In this very simplistic example, your gross profit margin and net profit margin would amount to 66%.Now, I understand that basic employee payroll and accounting/legal fees are not to be accounted for within the gross profit margin. But let’s say that in order to purchase said product, you have to convert currencies. You’ll be losing a bit of your money’s value having to convert it each time. Or perhaps you can only purchase this product using crypto. Now you have to also take into account the conversion rates AND the respective exchange’s flat rate fees.Let’s also say that when you sell the product, your payment processor takes 3%. And the platform that you sell on takes an additional 2%.Would all of these expenses be filed under a gross profit margin or a net profit margin? At which point do the expenses rl over into the “net” side of things? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Photo booths...but Upscale

What’s up everybodyI have an idea of creating a luxury photo booth company. I grew up in a very celebratory family. We always had tons of events. Now that I’m older I was looking to create a second income stream via photo booths. My ideal position in the market would be upscale, more adult type events. I see photo booths all the time at all age events, but the market Id like to target is more company based or adult group based events. The costs of my services, due to me purchasing high grade equipment falling on one person is always on my mind. (ex: a backyard birthday party usually paid for by parents) Where as a corporate event being more lucrative and NOT falling on the check book of a single person but more so a possible tax write off for an entity fits better with my plan.Still fleshing this thing out but I’ve pushed the button and bought my EQ. Looking to start soon. All thoughts & opinions are welcomed see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
