Should a new product be unique?

I always read a new product has to be unique in one way. If you can tweak it and make it valuable, it's a huge magnet. My thinking is like if I make a new headphone it should have something unique like a few 1 cm fans that cool the earpads, and headband. Or it should have some new speaker technology, or new combination of features that is more enjoyable. Is the way to sort of go about it to make a mission and product to be unique. Then keep trying to promote the hell out of it, and keep tweaking the brand, and product. The end goal is trying to make it catch on fire and be able to invest more money ? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
