Right so this happened this morning and it made me learn the true meaning of “Don’t give up”. I’m sure anyone that reads this can benefit from it and save time for stuff in the future. In the morning, I often go to my local park and shoot hoops with a basketball. (Taking long shots is my only strength in the sport) My standard routine was to take shots 3/4 from the court.. After becoming comfortable with it, I decided to test myself and score a full court length shot. Here’s where the lesson began.I shot and missed ..and shot.. and missed.. and shot.. and missed .. over and over again1 hour later, the self talk begun..“I’m going to get this..” “I don’t care how long it takes, it’s going in” “I’m not going home until this goes in”With the self talk and discipline, i went to back to battle. And again, still missing, kept falling short, never touching the rim, I just kept airballing... My little brother was fed up watching me try and went home.I now doubled down my efforts, putting EVERYTHING I got, Letting out loud grunts as I threw the ball, Tears of anger pending to be released.. But again.. I STILL kept airballing.Back to the bench I go. A rest was needed, its been an hour and 30 minutes of non stop airballing. I was feeling upset and sorry for myself. My arms began feeling very sore. “Surely I’m doing something wrong..” I told myself. I’m pretty religious so I asked God to help me with this(Yes I was that determined)Later on, something sparked my mind..My accuracy wasn’t the problem, it was my power. I was falling short of the rim, not touching it. I had to incorporate a different strategy and so I try new methods. The underarm shot and the backwards overhead throw.Long story short, the only one of the two giving me decent results was the backwards throw. I was now hitting the board. “We’re getting somewhere” I tell myself. “It doesn’t matter how you do it, the only thing that matters is scoring a full court shot.”7 more attempts later, It FINALLY went in! “AT LAST!” I yelled.. With dirt and sweat all over my face and clothes, I picked up the ball and went home with a smile on my face.So what was the lesson here you may ask?The saying “Don’t give up” is only true to a certain extent. If you’re trying and failing over and over again like how I was. It may help to take a step back, analyse what you’re doing wrong then try again with a new strategy. This goes for anything especially business. If I kept taking shots the same way, I wouldn’t of succeededBtw, you can use this routine to train your willpower if you tend to give up on things easily.TLDR: Airballed for 1 hour 45 minutes STRAIGHT with the thought being to “never give up”. Took a step back, tried a new strategy and took 2 steps forward by finally achieving a score. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
