Reddit, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.I am part of a nonprofit start-up. It is brand new so everyone is currently a volunteer. I am a member of the executive team. The founder and president of the company believes that information should be shared with everyone in the company (minus HR information and financial information). This means that even when you're jotting down notes or brainstorming ideas as a rough sketch with your team, another team can go into your folder, access your files, read them, comment on them, edit them, etc.To take it one step further, the founder also believes that those who are considered advisors, should get an email address in the company's domain and also have access to these files. The founder states that all the advisors are considered volunteers too if they sign the volunteer agreement.In my opinion, I think both things are a little strange. For the first situation, I think it's odd and somewhat invasive when drafts and brainstormed ideas that are not ready to present/be seen publicly or readily accessible and editable by others in the company outside your team (because of this, I've started to save general notes on my computer's desktop instead of drive or I email them between my teams instead of using the drive folder). For the second situation, I think outside advisors should be just that - advisors. They should not have access to company documents nor should they have an email with the company's domain. They should just use their own emails to correspond with us. I think if a conversation warrants the advisor to look at certain documents, those documents can be specifically shared as "view only" or emailed as a secure PDF. But I disagree that the advisors should have full editing access to all company documents from every team.What do you all think? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
