Dear Redditors, I’d like to ask for your advise on what marketing tools I should use to get users to a free software that we created. With some friends we created a helper software for a development team at the company we all work for. It is an integration to Gitlab, a source code repository management software (available as SaaS and on-premise) and its main goal is to show an issue board (a Kanban board) to the developers with every issue in every project group they work with. This is something that Gitlab can’t do on its own (only for specific project groups) but our team needed it very much to improve our processes. We have been using it for a while now and I thought why not turn it into a product. We released it on KanbanSync.com for free and currently we are looking for testers to see what is missing and how we could improve it to maybe make a small business out of it later. To be honest I don’t know much about marketing, what I did is I posted it to r/gitlab a while ago but we didn’t get too many users and even less of those are actually using it.So my question is that what is the way to reach potential users? How to promote a free software without spending a fortune on ads? Gitlab itself has millions of users (and many of them use the commercial version, so I guess some of them might want to pay a small fee later) but it seems we don’t know where to connect with them. Thanks for your advise! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
