Anyone own/work for an insurance company?

I'm trying to do research on insurance companies and while I've heard multiple people say that the government subsidizes them, I haven't found specific guidlines that would describe what would be part of this gov. subsidy and what would not. While I can imagine the government subsidizing car/home insurance, I can't fathom it doing so if Jennifer Lopez insures her bum for $1MI also have some questions regarding the models used to ensure the insurance company has enough capital to pay out the potential insurance claims - if anyone has insights, please let me know. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
