One common theme I notice in businesses is the concept 'less is more', costco and ikea cuts away all the fat. Another concept I notice, a 'focused experience is optimal'(tesla:fun, ikea:fun, costco:lowest price, mercedes:luxury). To me it sees like cutting the fat, and creating a very strong focused experience is important. Two critical building blocks. Maybe, also very strong understanding of the industry and a strong vision. Plus, strong execution in the specialization (ikea must be tremendous at product design, manufacturing, and coordination to make such their business model work). To me this seems like the recipe on building a dominant offer, and business. Making a business so valuable customer feels like they it's too good to be true. What are your thoughts on what makes a business optimal?
