Is it still possible to build a profitable email newsletter?

I have read (here and elsewhere) that email newsletters can be a great way to monetize written content online.I think I've got a good idea for weekly content and have set up a website + newsletter (through MailChimp) but it looks like Gmail tends to put emails from MailChimp etc. straight into spam or promotions tabs.Is it worth pushing ahead or am I better off just focusing on doing this as a blog?Appreciate your thoughts see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
