Good idea to buy roofing business?

I have an opportunity to purchase a roofing business at a good price. Thing is, I know nothing about roofing but this is a mid-sized operation where the owner just manages people currently (no quoting or doing jobs himself). I think I could do that.Anyone do this currently or in the past? It is a competitive industry but seems like it isn't too complex.. the commercial tender/RFP process does seem daunting though?Does anyone know where you could find a consultant or specialist to just cover industry trends or whatever?
