Selling online - do I need to be registered in the places I sell to?

Just starting off, really confused here. I know I need to be registered as a business in my own jurisdiction, but then the gov website I was on was saying how if I plan to do business anywhere else I need to be registered there too. Wtf? So I have to somehow navigate the bureaucratic systems of hundreds of towns and counties just in the US and be registered there just to sell online to people that live there?If my business is in California and someone from New York purchased my product and I ship it to them. That's my question. Do I have to fucking deal with the New York registration? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
