Having a hard time on the open market as a translator

Hey!Happy new year to you all! I hope every one of you is alright. I read about the 10 karma to post rule, but after extensive research, I still couldn't find out where to look up how much karma I have in this particular sub. I only know that my total is at 6.8k.So I am a pretty successful freelance translator on a powerful platform. It took me a while to make a living off of it, but overall, my current rate is still only 1/5 of the lowest prices out on the open market. Therefore, I launched my company website in September. The thing is that I will have to start from scratch there. During my time on the platform, I got about 450 companies noted down among the ~3500 orders I completed. The thing is that I am not allowed to contact people outside of the platform, or to put it better, I am not allowed to ask my contact for contact information at all. Also, about 95% of my clients are middlemen. Therefore, I am not directly working with the client at all. The client would hire an agency, who will hire someone who promises to work on it, while he acts as a middleman who hires a middle man who hires a middleman who employs me. I work for 1/10th of the price, while others benefit from it, having no idea how it works. It works for me in my current situation, but I feel like I have better potential. My page seems to be on the second to third Google page right now, even with a little bit of SEO done. I sometimes think about contacting those firms and telling them that I ended up doing their translations and asking them if they want to continue working with me in the future for a lower rate like they are currently paying. Technically, I don't have any contract with the middleman not to contact the company. I can't trace if the company was delighted with my work in the end. I usually get a 5* review from the last middleman in the chain, and that's it. I don't know what happens back on the way to the actual client. In case the company wasn't satisfied, I feel kind of vulnerable. After all, they could sue me because they don't expect me to have their files. Those contacts are the best chance to do my first steps on the open market and get some mouth-to-mouth publicity for my brand. But doing that would feel pretty risky.I will also have to work under the GDPR of Europe if that changes anything. I would love to see my website get going since it will be a huge step forward in my career! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
