Here's the basics, I have a company in Ontario, we hired a dating couple as contract workers (not employees) office assistants but they were always 30min or more late, they made strange demands and disrespected management, but to avoid conflict we would just comply. We even paid one of their parking tickets because they demanded it. But all around, they were bad workers. They never took initiative and just had general attitude problems. Today, we formally fired them, citing the punctuality clause in our contract and that they breached it almost every day. We are paying them out for the hours they worked, but now they're saying we will hear from their lawyers on monday for not giving them 10 more days worth of pay as some kind of severance?Of course this was never a thing in our contract. On what grounds could they possibly have to go to small claims court when THEY were the ones who were late and aggressive toward everyone? Or are they just trying to bully us? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
