How do you turn an idea into a project without any engineering background?

I'm new to this sub and I want to know if it's possible to make a device (I have an idea but I'm a bit skeptical of posting it online) even though I don't have an engineering background.I asked one of my entrepreneur friends and he told me this:1_It's a really good idea, but I don't know how you could get that thing to work.2_It would have to be cheap enough so that it could be sold to the general public. It would also have to be small enough so that it could fit anywhere.3_It would have to be pretty easy to install so that I wouldn't have to hire extra staff to drive to the customers (similar to when you buy a router and some workers come to your house). My questions:1)Do I ask as many engineering friends as I have to come up with how we could make something like this work?2)Do I post the idea on an engineering sub on reddit and they give me some ideas?/Do I hire an engineer to help me build it?3)Do I try to do this on my own?4)Should I even be this skeptical about telling other people my idea? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
