Can someone explain to me what is dropshipping?

So from what I understand about drop shipping is that I have my website everything setup advertisements and all and now the thing I don't understand is that, do I buy the product from the supplier and get it delivered to my door and than I would have to send It when someone buys It, or when someone takes an order on my website I make an order from my supplier and It would be directly shipped to the person that bought It from my website. So is it like I don't even have to touch the product and everything is done by the supplier where I just send them the address my customer provided me with and the supplier ships It to them?
