I’ve been in the world of startups for 7 years now. 3, 4, 5 years ago calling myself CEO felt like the ultimate sign of coolness. With experience I learnt that the CEO is only an employee. The most valuable employee, perhaps, arguably, but just an employee. You want to be the Chairman of the Board. Not that it’s cool, but that’s where the power is. Anyway.I started my own firm a few weeks back. I know what I’m doing and I’m ready to do it. I’m in charge. But now, lol, I really didn’t want to be CEO. It felt douchy to say it. I really really don’t want to be the CEO if I can avoid it. Great power? Sure. But also great responsibility. I would rather have the title of “VP of getting shit done and everything basically” if I could lol.I need to though. That’s my title. It defines my responsibility. People inside and outside the firm need to know it to get things done. Buck stops with me.Does anyone else feel douchey when they have to tell people they’re CEO?It’s crazy the clarity, respect and yes LinkedIn requests you get lol when you put it up. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
