Selling earrings to stores?

I have been prototyping my earrings to start selling and am wondering how you get them in stores? I remember seeing that one successful jewelry company would go into stores and ask them to sell her earrings.My questions is how does the profit model work? The store buys 5 pairs of earrings upront at $20 each to sell at $25 OR do they let you have a stand in there and sell for $25 and only give you $20 if it sells for example? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
