How to get a freelance client to pay debts owed? Collections?

I do freelance video editing. This long time client has usually been good with payments but they're now two months overdue and are dodging my calls and texts. They owe $760 so a relatively small amount. We're both based in the U.S. Can I contact a collections agency? Or maybe a lawyer?
