"To be truly productive you have to give your brain the right kind of breaks"

I don't know who needs to hear this but I sure did. The quote is from a good friend of mine. We both hit up each other from time to time about mental health/personal growth and stuff we are dealing with in life. As a man, these kind of conversations aren't very common and I'm very lucky to have a friend like this where we can both lean on each other and grow without any stigma. For the past 6+ months I've been working hard on this project and it's taken over my life. I'm very happy with the progress but it's hard, for me, to shut my brain off. It was affecting my sleep as I would lay in bed thinking about a bug or marketing, branding, etc.My friend recommended meditating which I started and that combined with focusing on balance has really been a game changer. I was worried that I would lose my "edge" or something if I "slowed down" by taking healthy breaks but in reality it's making me more productive.I was running into an issue with my algorithm the past few days but instead of beating my head against the keyboard and trying to push through it I took a step back, read a little, went for a walk and hit the gym. There I was on the treadmill and it dawned on me. I wasn't even thinking about work. I was just in the moment and all of the sudden a thought popped in my head. Got home, made my shake, sat down at my desk and started reworking the algorithm. Tested it out and it works! All this to say, I know how it is to be obsessive about starting a business and how consuming it can be. I'm all for that kind of life but we all need to remember to give ourselves breaks and have balance in our lives. We can't look at it as slowing down. We can't beat ourselves up when we take a break and think "I could be doing this and that instead". It's not healthy and it's not sustainable. Remember to take care of yourself mentally and physically. Good things will come from it.I see a lot of great posts here and felt someone might need to hear this. Find that balance. It's not something you can just do once, it's a life long process and it takes work but it will benefit you and your business. Now I need a shower.Cheers see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
