How to turn a product idea into a real product?

Hi All,I am 28 years old and living in England. I have come up with a product idea that I believe has a great potential. Without giving too much away, this product is a new fire-starter system that can be used for survival and/or camping scenarios. I can say with absolute certainly that there is nothing like this on the market already so I truly believe in this product. I need some guidance regarding how to go about actually making this product. I have the general concept worked out but I am not an engineer by trade so I would need help in actually creating a working prototype etc. What is the best way to go about this? Are there people I could hire to help build the idea? Also, what is the opinion of people here regarding patenting a product? I am not a very wealthy person so even if I patented the product, I would not have the cash to start taking people to court if they stole the concept.Thank you in advance for your help. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
