Team: A bunch of childhood friends in different professions. One partner gave us the land, two of us threw the capital, and one guy with an agriculture degree supervises the farm.Location: The Farm is in the rural hill country of Sri Lanka. Has a natural water supply (spring water) and abundant sunlight. The land still doesn't have a proper road. How we started:We hired a Contractor who built the two Greenhouse tunnels for us. Costed around $5000 for the constructions. The seeds were super cheap ($5) for both capsicum and Scotch-Bonnet. Our agriculture supervisor started a nursery by planting the seeds while the constructions were going.2 months later, we introduced the plants to the tunnels. They were planted on a soil-less coconut fiber media. There are 240 capsicum plants and 140 scotch-bonnet plants. Then we installed a Drip Irrigation system to apply water and fertilizers. Two months later, we yielded our first Harvest.Scotch-Bonnet: 20kg/ week. (Target:25kg/week)Capsicum: 50kg/week (target: 150kg/week)Selling is pretty easy. Supermarkets buy our products on the same day of the harvest. We can further increase our margins if we start direct selling.Monthly average cost: $150.Salary for one worker: $100: He has to work only 4 hours per day for 5 days per week. This rate is not great, but above the minimum wage in Sri Lanka.Fertilizers & other operational costs: $50 per month.Income of the first month.Around $300.We expect this to increase to around $1000 in a couple of months as our trees mature.Year-End Goals.Setting up a vegetable shop and start direct selling.Setting up two more tunnels. (will double our harvest. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
