How COVID Has Made A World Of Entrepreneurs

You hear about it everyday, as millions of small businesses continue to go out of business due to COVID-19 and the way it has changed the way we do business around the world; however, what they won't tell you is the millions of new opportunities that have popped up around the world. I've seen spikes in the need for digital jobs such as coding, digital marketing, and even online translation jobs have seen an uptick. Being an entrepreneur I think part of the job is going to be looking at the glass being half full, despite conditions being unfavorable. COVID-19 has provided a unique opportunity for business owners and employees to spend time investing into themselves, time they otherwise wouldn't have if they were stuck at the office 24/7. My suggestion to everyone is to take this time to learn new skills, try new opportunities, and just learn about yourself. I post all the time about the resources out there and there's more and more coming everyday. Places like Scam Risk, Youtube, Google, and even now Facebook has started to post new course content. Utilize that information and better yourself everyday and I promise your business will grow see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Getting More Clients and Scaling

Hey all! Been lurking around here for a few months now and have a somewhat loaded question. How can I get more clients in order to scale my web design business? We've currently got a team of 3 with one in training but can't seem to keep things stable. I'm decently happy with my income as it's enough to provide for my girlfriend and I, but I'm left wanting more.Currently, I'm using Upwork to get clients. It's rather easy to get them there, but writing proposal after proposal is getting rather loathsome on my end. I've tried cold emails and calls, but they've done very little for me. I've also managed to snag some local clients through word of mouth, but that's also infrequent. If you'd like more details in order to help answer this question better, feel free to ask. Thanks to anyone willing to help out! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Moving into other Regions

I was part of an IPO that almost immediately failed. One of the lessons I learnt was around growing by region. We were based in Australia but quickly grew into Canada, then UK.The lesson learnt here was the difference between talent and culture. Finding the right talent in Toronto was really easy, good strong sales force with wonderful experience. The only issue was they all lacked the knowledge of our culture back at HQ.The converse of this was taking a sales leader from our HQ to open another office in UK. They brought the standards, culture, know how and communication rhythms. This has a massive effect on culture, who we hired locally, the behaviour traits we looked for and ultimately results. The UK thrived and ended up outperforming all other offices and the standards were sky high. The Canadian office was an indefensible failure, we went through managers, staff and offices. Burnt through cash and achieved very little. In short, export the right people to grow your business. Use your HQ as a talent incubator and give responsibility to the people who model the best of your culture. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Cold outreach is one of the most powerful growth engines for any B2B. Here's a formula to write emails that consistently generate new opportunities for your business

Email is one of the most powerful growth engines for any entrepreneur trying to ramp up sales. However, not many get it right.Part of the reason is that entrepreneurs end up focusing on either a very low volume that needs scale, or too much volume with almost no personalization (we get these in our inbox every day...).So really, cold email personalization at scale - why should you care?If you want to schedule dozens of opportunities on a monthly basis, you need a formula to repeatedly stand out from the crowd. A formula that makes replies like these feel normal in your day-to-day life:"I've got hundreds of SDRs emailing me, trying to LinkedIn me or sending inmail. You hit out of the ball park and for the first time I'm replying.""Hey, Like your approach - let's do it. Speak Monday.""Sure, I'd be happy to chat. Give me a call before 9:30am this morning.""I have to say I was looking forward to that call! Let's chat next week.""Wonderful cold email - I've got 30 minutes at 8am PST tomorrow or an hour at 2pm PST""Hi, Nice email, original and engaging! Let me have a link to your product but I have to tell you I have done a lot of work in this area over the past 12 months so feel we are mainly sorted. However, happy to see if we have any gaps.""Yes I do! Let me know some times that work for you."The secret?Successful outbound sales lies in 3 main factors:Targeted relevanceOutstanding personalizationScalabilityDon’t worry. I’ll show you how - all secrets uncovered. The Formula:Personalization with good reason. A great first sentence is crucial. Prospects will pay attention to your email if you hook them quickly. Use something specific you know about all prospects to grab their attention.Natural segue & did my homework. Transition and connect the hook you used in the first sentence with the problem you are trying to solve. Don’t forget to create an intriguing message and make it all about them.Problem. Now, make sure your message is compelling by mentioning a problem they care about. For instance, C-level executives have different problems than middle managers or individual contributors. Use this knowledge to adapt your message accordingly.Approach and solution. Segue with a clear and concise value proposition. Leave the details for the call if the prospect is interested in a specific issue.Social Proof. Social proof has a positive impact on your conversion rates. One of the easiest ways to do it is to show relevant examples of existing customers.Intent-Gauging Call to Action (CTA). Finish your emails with one simple call to action. A/B test different calls to action. Sometimes a simple question like "What do you think?" works better than trying to immediately schedule a call. Or vice versa. Here's a real example I used leveraging a hobby that prospects and I had in common. If you want to dive deeper into this formula with more real examples and a step-by-step guide on how to craft an email like this, you can follow this guide.--------Hope this helps, Happy to help if you're struggling with your cold emails! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

I started making tutorials for woodworking projects to try and drive traffic to my website.

I’m the guy who started making ceramics in his apartment after being laid off due to COVID.I’ve always been kind of a “maker” and when I do make things I usually design them myself instead of following some sort of tutorial.Well a few years ago I made an elevated bed for my dog. Yesterday I tried to put a quick tutorial together for people that may want to make one of their own and put it on my website https://ift.tt/3uau5zr to this point, my website has just been used to sell my ceramics. I added a tutorials tab and posted this, with no intention of selling plans or making people pay for it.Why would I do this? This isn’t even related to ceramics.I know. Most of my followers (not many) have followed be because I have shown the process I used to design and make my ceramics. I figured most of them may be makers or do it yourself types that also appreciate the amount of work that goes into making quality things and be interested in my products.I added the tutorial, which is just a slideshow with descriptions and not that great. I did this project years ago so I didn’t actively make it from scratch, I just showed assembly.I posted the same thing to Imgur with a link to my site and it has about 2.5k views. I’ve gotten a few new followers and my website traffic is much higher than it usually is.I don’t know if this will result in more sales in the future(I don’t have anything available right now), or people will only become interested in the tutorials. Either way, more viewers usually isn’t a bad thing. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Small business owners with different locations - how do you manage all the locations without being physically there?

Say you own for example a chain of small cafés, each has 2-3 employees working at any one time when its open.If you own 10 of these cafes, how do you manage them all? How do you know that the people at cafe #7 are being polite and courteous to customers and that the staff at cafe #9 showed up for work? How do you know that staff at cafe #4 aren't stealing from the tills? Thanks for any info :) see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

The application deadline for funding is approaching... Should I apply if I don't feel confident about my ideas?

I've for a long time dreamed of applying to a funding program we have in Denmark where I can get a 2.000$ per month salary for working on my own idea, without them needing anything in return except me working full time on the idea. However, I don't feel confident about any of my ideas in their current state of development. Maybe if I explored the customer problems more I would find an idea to apply before the deadline, which is 13. April. But I'm also in a bit of a hurry if I have to find a Master's degree for this summer... (most deadlines are already over...)So I don't know whether to explore customer problems in the hopes of finding an idea to apply with that I'm confident in or find a master's degree for this summer... see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

James Clear messaged me. A lesson on modesty we should all follow as entrepreneurs.

James Clear, the author of the New York Times bestseller, Atomic Habits, sent me a DM on Twitter.Driven by astonishment and excitement that such a popular author was messaging me about an article I wrote last year, I posted a screenshot of the conversation. I did it for somehow selfish reasons of course, I wanted to share my joy and promote my article (James Clear reading your blog, best social proof ever). Then, amid congrats messages, a few people noticed something I overlooked.James wrote Hi David... I'm an author and I'm trying to chase down a source. Hoping you can help.He assumed I don't know who he is and politely introduced himself without any credits. Nothing like "I wrote Atomic Habits, the bestseller you probably heard of".This is so awesome. Such modesty and humility. I think that's really what success is about. We all have seen all those douchy high achievers who always look down on others.Regardless of your success (Which I genuinely wish you), bank balance, number of employees, sold copies of book or fame, please stay humble. People will notice and reward you.Be like James. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Thinking of starting up a clothing brand from scratch, wouldn't mind some advice

Yes, i will be doing research on this. I just like talking to strangers rather than reading countless articles. Im looking to make some shirts, pants, socks, (and other seasonal clothes). This would be mostly out of passion and very small passive income for the time being obviously. Im in the very rough draft process, just brainstorming how i would go about this. Have 3rd party's supply the clothes/my designs, fill my closet and deliver/have people pick it up? Advertising my clothes while at work? Using facebook/ Craigslist? How early i would want a website with seamless shipping.. I expect to be in the hole for awhile. Anyone have experience with clothes starting from scratch? Any experience is appreciated though. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Retail Start up Question

Start up Retail business questionsI have worked and negotiated deals for 5 separate locations to open a few retail businesses. Here is my question, I initially thought I would just be acquiring product from a top tier supplier at a reduced rate however now that the supplier has seen my locations, he wants to partner. What is a fair amount to of equity to give to the supplier if he is. Ow willing to provide flower at zero cost and we split net profit at end of each month. I have 75% equity so what is a fair amount? I have worked my butt off for the last year to secure deals however he has the product that makes this whole idea work. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Overwhelmed with ideas / creativity?

Hi everyone,I'm a solo founder for a classic board game app. I feel like I'm blessed and cursed with is creativity.Yes, creativity can be a burden. As I work on a feature, I come up with ideas on top of that, and as I work on those ideas, I come up with ideas built on top of that. To give some specifics, imagine I'm building a new chat UI. Users want to know how old messages are. Ok, done. Now that I'm working on the chat UI, what if for mobile instead of popping up with an opaque background and covering up the game board, I make it transparent and blur the background so you still have the visual context of what's going on. (You can see what's going on in the background as you type without making the text hard to read) Ok, that's pretty cool. Now, what if the 'chat message context' (indicator that shows which context a message was sent from. eg: a previous game where I was playing white in chess and in previous messages I was playing red in checkers) is sticky so that the context for the last group of messages is always visible, even if there's a lot of messages sent in a row? Done. That's pretty slick too. Let's experiment with a new typing progress indicator too. Done.PS: As I'm working on the chat UI, I'm coming up with ideas for other features, videos, ways to market the app, etc. My notes are scattered about in local files, notes in google keep, handwritten notes, a few notebooks that I carry around, oh - and notion of course.Does this pattern sound familiar to anyone else? The task of simply organizing all of the thoughts I have is a huge undertaking. Has anyone else with similar experiences found an approach that works for them? Bucketing notes by topic doesn't work for me, since coming up with those buckets is tricky - many of these ideas are related to many others. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Ideas for a startup with easy licenses/permits (or none required)?

I made an earlier post about a possible gumball machine startup and one of you told me about making an LLC to protect me from being sued etc, and I looked it up and in my state they require you to have a business registered and a permit to operate and it looks like insurance all for $1 a day of profit :(...I don't really want to deal with stuff like that, is there is a business that I can do with no permits required like the title says? Tips on dealing with stress, especially as the stakes grow bigger?

Son I've really been feeling it lately. I've been through a lot of shit throughout this journey, but it just never seems to get easier. I feel like it's too simplistic to say just say "stop stressing about things that are out of your control" especially as your business grows and the stakes get higher. Imagine landing a contract with a Fortune 500 company and your goods are being shipped from China via sea container. Then it capsizes and everything is lost or it gets rerouted and arrives 2 weeks later messing up your deal. How are you just supposed to be like oh well out of my control can't control the boat. Things like this happen so often too. Maybe the flight is cancelled, your employee skips work, goods arrive damaged, customer cancels huge order, etc. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Fitness Apparel

This is the most specific thing I could ask, but I need help and maybe one of the 900k people would know-how. I started a fitness apparel dropshipping business to pay for a real business with fitness apparel. I already know all the fabrics I want specifically, and I've done so much research to find exactly what I want. 80% nylon 20% spandexI came across this company, which started their Facebook page in February 2021, Instagram at 200 meaning that they are a new company. https://ift.tt/31z8jJq company has all sizes, no ads on Facebook, and multiple different products meaning they basically need a warehouse for this super small online business. I feel it would be extremely unlikely for them to pay all that money on a business they have 0 idea will actually work. The only way they would be doing this print on demand I believe, and if they were to order that on Alibaba, it would cost them thousands of dollars. I find it extremely hard to believe they are doing this without that, and I guess my question is, What are they using to create their apparel? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

How a group of internet marketers with multiple online stores dedicated their time to helping others

Think Expansion is a group of internet marketers who were successful in their own businesses. These people were insurance agents, they were store owners, gas station owners, you name it! And they all marketed their own business.Me personally (Jayson Rosero, Founder CEO) found that what we could do is join forces and help people who were struggling in themselves. Coming from an entrepreneurial family (with many failed endevoirs) I understood how much we could help people, and how we could essentially cut the timeline of the learning curve a business has in figuring out what works for them as far as marketing. When we plugged people in, you wouldn't believe what happened, but people started gaining insane returns on their investment, people who owned luxury stores, socks stores, stores that were made for those cool buddha chandeleirs you name it!A message for all entrepreneurs reading this, from the team:"Don't give up, never stop working, you can't be ballin until you're all in! So stop trying to find a balance in your lifestyle and just work hard for the noble calling that is being an entrepreneur! And take risks, pass on the torch and duplicate! Collaboration is duplication, and that's how you build your empire!"Main message: It's all about building a team, you don't build your business, you build people, and people build the business.EDIT: Inb4 people hate on the website lol, we're internet marketers who specialize in direct response, not graphic design artist and social media marketers who use FB ads to burn money see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Reptiles and e-commerce

Hi everyone,So my friend has started a reptile business, he already has about 20 reptiles in "stock" and is breeding them, and wants to sell products on the side as well. I have been helping him by creating a website through wordpress and woocommerce. Were seeing a little bit of traffic through his listing on fb, kijiji etc. Were getting a ok amount of emails, and hes said there is interest in selling to bigger stores. So what I'm asking is, has anyone here done this kind of business before and what advice can you give me to build it up? Is it just regular SEO and advertising? I just feel now that I've set it up I'm unsure of next steps. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

How do you shrink your ambitions to get an optimal amount of viability?

I know how to code, I have things to show, I went to have quite a good education, I'm curious and able to learn a lot of things, but I have no relevant degrees, no legitimacy and too little professional experience. At some point, I need to realize I have to clamp down on my ambitions and go back to more realistic goals so I can move forward. How do you find goals that are attainable in term of business, that are viable, not too boring, without dismissing 100% of doing what you like?I feel there is cursor where you have to "realistically follow your dreams" but also not be too ambitious and find a sweet spot where you can get some validation from others to feel comfortable. For example, I'm not willing to build websites or debug accounting apps, I see too little value in those things. I'm more willing to work in the gaming industry even if it's from a distance.Do you see what I mean? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

I am sure some of you have heard that New York State reached a deal to legalize recreational Marijuana.I as a serial Entrepreneur I am always thinking about ways to find a niche in a new industry. Of the top of my head these are a few of the areas where I think value would be added1) New York will undoubtedly implement a nightmarish bureaucracy that will most likely follow, I assume there will be an need for a 'consultant' like help in order to get permits and help cut through the red-tape2) On-demand delivery - Giving Uber Eats, DoorDash, GrubHub - I see a new avenue for on-demand delivery of recreational marijuana. From some of my reading, there already exist dutchie which fills this niche. Given the new market there is probably room for expansion3) Warehousing and Supplies - There is an old saying which relates to gold mining in the Yukon - Don't be a miner, but the guys who sells to miners. I see a specialized type of garden supply and marijuana supply store. Seeds, lighting, specialized fertilizer, soil, amendments, etc.I could go on, but curious about what you all think. From what I understand there is about 18 months until this will fully be implemented in New York. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Goat Zoom Calls 🐐 💻: How ridiculous ideas can unlock new opportunities

What's the secret to becoming more creative? Edward de Bono, who invented the concept of lateral thinking, suggests in the book 'PO: Beyond Yes and No' that you can use a little technique he calls "Intermediate Impossible*".* An intermediate impossible is a ridiculous, unrealistic idea that completely ignores logical thinking. It doesn't really matter if the intermediate impossible is right or 100% absurd. Its goal is to challenge assumptions and go beyond the boundaries of a problem you're trying to solve. For example, imagine that you run a goat farming business. And you want to explore new income streams. The intermediate impossible is that you can't sell goat milk or goat meat.By consciously rejecting the obvious, you're asking your brain to explore new and unobvious possibilities. British Farmer Dot McCarthy (the owner of Cronkshaw Fold Farm in Rossendale) used to rely on extra revenue streams to support her business*.* Like educational visits or hosting weddings. But the Covid-19 lockdown hit her farming business hard in 2020. And because of the social distancing rules McCarthy had to think of new ways to keep Cronkshaw Fold Farm open. Then McCarthy had a ridiculous idea. A service where you pay £5 for one of Cronkshaw Fold Farm goats to secretly join your Zoom meeting. The idea was so absurd that McCarthy immediately brushed off as a joke. But eventually McCarthy decided to "just put it on the website to give people a laugh". Then McCarthy went to bed. The following morning she received 200 emails requesting to book her cute goats to join Zoom meetings. So far McCarthy has made £50,000 from goat zoom calls. The English comedian and screenwriter John Cleese once said, "creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating." John was right.Takeaways for your business:1. An Intermediate impossible is a thinking tool that rejects the traditional YES/NO system when you have to judge ideas. The truth is, most people (including CEOs, Business Executives, Marketers, Engineers, Politicians or Teachers) look at a new idea with the wrong attitude. They just want to figure out what’s wrong with it, so they can quickly reject that idea. That’s because our traditional logical thinking relies on the YES/NO system. When you come up with an idea (or when someone presents you an idea) that is wrong (or absurd or ridiculous), you reject it immediately. An intermediate impossible in an idea that would be rejected in seconds in the YES/NO system.2. Sometimes an intermediate impossible is a stepping stone to ANOTHER idea that is right. Sometimes it is THE right idea (Dot McCarthy’s Goat Zoom calls idea is the perfect example).PS. If you enjoyed reading this story, you'll also enjoy my newsletter. Why A White Label Solution Is Easier Than Building Your Own?

Why AWhite Label Solution Is Easier Than Building Your Own? That’s because building your own solution can lead you to:Reinvent the wheel, making mistakes that others before you have already made and mastered.Dramatically slow down your time to market, as you try to troubleshoot and increase your learning curve outside your core competency.Spend too much money developing tools and solutions that already exist in other formats.Miss out on resources and expertise in the specific space where you need a focused solution see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

What actually makes an Ideal Client... ideal?

I know that you are supposed to create an ideal client avatar. You're supposed to figure out their pain points, number of kids, spending habits, location, etc. I get that. The question I've never been able to find an answer to though is what actually made them ideal for you? Simply that they were the most profitable? They were most likely to refer you? They needed your unique service the most? They were the most enjoyable to work with? They had the most interesting projects to work on?These are all different clients for me in real life (admittedly, I'm fairly new and don't have a wide base yet)... I've looked at the clients I've had and boiled them down to these personalities: there's a pain in the butt who spends a lot. There's the super nice and easy client who doesn't spend much. There's the supportive brand cheerleader but who asks a million questions and is really time consuming. Then, there's one who really benefits from the type of service that I offer (and who has the most interesting projects to work on so I get the most job satisfaction out of them), but the owners just want a job done at a reasonable price and aren't brand evangelists or anything. So, which one is my ideal client? Or does it have to be someone who has ALL of those qualities rolled into one? Thanks in advance for your advice...**I am starting a brand photography, social media content creation (30 days of original IG posts, etc), copywriting, competitor analysis, basic web design service, etc for small and medium brick-and-mortar businesses wanting to differentiate themselves in my local area (sort of like a freelance mini-marketing service). see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Started a business with a friend, now I don't know how to proceed.

I don´t exactly don´t know where to post this. Long story short. I started a business with a friend. He got us the first client (our biggest client now). Our business is a metal fabrication shop. He has a full time job, he only helps me 2-3 hours every 2 to 3 days. I do almost everything related to fabrication (cutting, welding, grinding, painting, etc), I also am the one who makes the invoices and fills taxes, etc.We currently split our profits 50-50, and I feel that´s right because he was the one who got the client who pays very well for all the jobs they ask us to do. But what I´m asking you guys, how should we split profits when we get another big client? supposing I'm the one who gets it.My partner doesn´t look so motivated to get another client. Probably I'll be the one who gets the next second biggest and third biggest client. Should we still split profits 50-50?We split the costs 50-50 (warehouse rent, machinery, etc)Thank you in advance guys. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Salaries Are Meant To Hold You Back From Your Dreams

Hopefully many of you know this, especially since you've taken an interest in being an entrepreneur by joining this page. But salaries are meant to hold you back from your dreams, and your managers or higher ups know this. Before I tell you my experience think about it like this. If a company is able to pay you $60,000 a year with no question asked.. what do you think their return on investment is? Probably atleast two to three times the amount they're paying you. Now there's nothing wrong with working for someone, but me personally I could just never live that life. I recently retired after selling my business, but I started marketing wayyy back when in college. Programs were relatively fresh as digital marketing was just developing as an industry, and I ended up landing a job at a small marketing agency upon graduation. I worked there for a few years and barely covered my bills every month, until eventually moving on to a corporate job as a marketing associate. I worked the job for a while and even got really good at it. In fact, I was probably making anywhere between $100,000-$150,000 a year while being promoted to marketing manager. Life was great and I thought I had it all until one day I saw how my bosses were living. Nice house, fancy car, and they could take days off at a moments notice. It made me think to myself I've gotten so good at this that if I spent 8 hours a day doing what I do for them, but just at my own thing I could probably make some real money. Thus my entrepreneurial spirit was born and the rest is history. Don't limit yourself especially in time when you're provided so many online resources such as videos, courses, and whatever else anyone want's to say about the industry. And the biggest point is don't become a prisoner of the moment, salaries are meant for you to get comfortable and forget about your dreams see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

Manufacturer is over 3 weeks late with my $70K inventory purchase. What penalties do you build into your purchase orders or contracts for late deliveries?

I’m out many thousands of dollars as I’m almost out of stock and they alerted me to a 3 week delay at the last minute. So I’ve had to deliberately slow sales down to a crawl. I’m a little salty about it, but I should have done better with determining an appropriate penalty. At this point, I just want to ensure I can take the product (it takes a minimum of 10 weeks to manufacturer so I can just run to someone new). But for next time, what type of penalty is typical? I had no penalties agreed upon beyond having the right to void the order. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy

What should I know when buying out a partner?

I’m going to skip straight to the good stuff -Covid has not been great for us and as a result I may buy my partner (LLC) out of their % in our startup. We’ve been running losses for a couple years and don’t have a pathway to financially support both of us. It’s a small equity stake (under $15k) and it’s really just buying the brand a few small equipments (under $5k total purchase price).Aside from updating the state, bank, and other services - is there anything we should know (like absolutely hire a lawyer type stuff) to finalize the buyout? Thanks in advance see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
