Apple iPhone vs Goodyear tire rollout

In my work, where tech rollouts often suck, I often think about the Apple iPhone rollout. Apple had to collaborate with cellular carriers to make sure the networks were equipped to provide data, because otherwise the iPhones would be useless bricks.I heard anecdotally about a similar failed event where Goodyear had a new revolutionary tire, but failed to collaborate with shops to ensure specialize install/repair equipment was available. Nobody bought the tire because. Is that true? I can't find any source corroborating the Goodyear anecdote. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
