
HiSo I'm currently starting a high end group buying website to deliver premium garden furniture/rooms and kitchen items to the UK. We intend on keeping costs down by delivering to customers straight after arrival in UK.We have begun looking at shipping options in the UK, particularly those that handle 'ugly freight' due to the size of a lot of our products.I'm aware that negotiating a deal with one company is probably the most used option. However, without knowing the entire logistics, I'm thinking of giving the customers the option of who delivers from a list of those available.My thinking is as it's the last physical contact the customer will have with dealing with us (even though shipping will not be done by us - mentally it's the last to them and a bad delivery can result in knee jerk reviews and a bitter aftertaste) and seeing as it won't be under our actual physical control as a company, I'm wondering if it would offset the customers expectations if they had ultimate control (previous bad experiences with a company could leave them anticipating problems) over who delivered.My questions are;· Is this method already used by companies and if so, who? · Are there any glaring obstacles (minus our own website logistics) that may be a problem?This is my first time in an online retail company and my brick and mortar experience did not involve delivery, so I'm a complete noob when it comes to this.
