Industrial equipment recycling. Is it viable?

I work as maintenance in a factory and had this idea for a while. In order to keep machinery running parts need to be replaced. Often times parts are thrown out into the trash because it's usually cheaper to install a new part to get the production line running again. Usually these discarded parts are very easy to repair and put back into order. The idea would be to contact local favorites and make a deal to collect their discarded parts, components on regular basis. I would sell the parts back to the factory at a fraction of the cost of a new part OR warehouse parts and sell on a website.How would I go about contacting local factories?
