Spend money to make money. How I grew my business.

When I started sellig I didn't have an actual store. I had some tables and a canopy. I started setting up first at flea markets (swap meets) but the business wasn't to good. Then a friend suggested something that changed everything.A friend suggested I set up at a local car show. It's a car club that has shows to collect money for a charity. But I just didn't pay to set up a booth, I donated items to them to give away. After 3 summers I had made enough to have an actual store. How, I'll explain.The first show I did was in may. Small one day event. I donated about $200 in items. That got the attention of not only of people there, but the club itself. So through that first summer I was welcome at ever event they had. I would donate and in exchange they would allow me to set up a small booth.Now the big deal came over labor day weekend. They have a 4 day event ever year. 3,000 cars, 20,000 visitors. Now that's a lot of money. Most car guys are wealthy and like to spend money. I donate big one this one. $1,000 in items. For that I get my booth, my business card on 40,000 paper placemats that go out to local restaurants, 3 meals a day for free during the event, choice placement of my booth, electricity and internet access.Now that all normally cost $600, except for the choice pacement. You might ask why not just pay the money. It's cheaper. I dont because by donating more and stuff they can raffle off I am seen as a really great company that cares about the community and willing to do more than just the basics when it comes to it.It also had a side effect in the first few years, still does in a way. When I would set up at flea markets and county fairs people remembered me and would be more inclined to purchase from me. That still holds true to this day.Making those connections became important. Covid all but killed my company. If I didn't own the building and the land it sits on I would have lost that to. So now I'm starting over and while other companies are struggling to get restarted, I'm already back at it doing the weekend shows to generate revenue.All because I decided that image was more important than profit during those starting days. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
