I work as the vice president, assistant to the president and owner of the company, and also kind of just general office staff for a small businessThings I go uncompensated forGasolineWear and tear on carAlways being on call, never not being at work. A few times I was expecting a call to set up direct deposit and so I’d bring my laptop with me to a friend’s house to be ready at the employees’ convenience. I’ve had to ditch my friends and sit on their stairs for twenty minutes at like 9 o clock at night to have a conference call I got like 10 minutes of warning about. I’ve picked up calls minutes after waking up, just before I’d planned on going to sleep, and during meals.Willingness to go with delayed pay twice to keep the company afloatWillingness to take, what was brought to me as, a temporary pay cut to get the company in the blackWorking the first couple weeks without being on payroll while the company was getting startedUsing my apartment as an office. I agree I don’t do 40 hours worth of work, but I definitely do more than twenty. Regardless of how many hours a week I spend actively working on something related to the company, I always assumed some of it was compensation for being on call as well as the other things I’m currently going uncompensated for. I’m not complaining about any of these inconveniences either, apart from the pay cut. If I wanted a typical job I’d get one. I like working here. That said, I think somewhere around 80% of the US population couldn’t do my job and then you’d have consider the people who wouldn’t want to. I think I’m in the top 3 most difficult to replace employees. I’m not asking for 40 hours a week again, I never asked for that in the first place and I thought it was generous as well. I’d like to make an offer of 30 hours a week at $22.5 an hour(Original pay was $20 an hour,) after one more week of receiving 20 hours a week.end letter.I reckon best case I get the raise I asked for, worst case i negotiate for 30 hours a week at my old pay. I just worry I'm coming off strong see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
