Copying a business from another country: advices

Hello all, a friend of mine and I would love to copy the business of an online grocery startup which value proposition is to have the best prices online ever and free shipping. The service is available in Netherlands, Germany and France. We live in another country in Europe that is not targeted for now by the business. We both love this company, but we are having some different thoughts on how (and if) to proceed. The e-grocery business industry has grown so much due to the pandemic, and also the number of startups that offers the same proposition - your grocery delivered to your home - has increased so much, thus making the market much more crowded and competitive. This company we would like to copy is different from the others because in its value proposition, it has free shipping and best price online. Now we are stuck to understand how (and if) to proceed further, because in my opinion the value proposition of this company, that we would like to copy is a very hard one to copy since I’m pretty sure that all the grocery business companies would have the same proposition (best prices and free shipping) if they could, but, actually they can’t. I’m sure that if this company can afford to have these good prices and free shipping, it is because they have a huge load of people ordering from them and have important partnership to achieve such value proposition. On the other hand, when they started it is sure they didn’t have so huge numbers, but they raised a lot of money to invest in creating dark stores and give this value proposition to people because the founders where retail/grocery veterans. My cofounder, instead, thinks that making a small test with a website where we mocke sell goods at lower price and free shipping (without selling anything, but only tracking how much people buy) can show traction from people and in this way we can show these metrics to some investors and try to get some funding. For me, its vision is too optimistic and not even close to how much hard it is to create something like this without being a veteran in this sector. Also, if the test goes well, and let’s say 1000 people order from this mock websites due to best prices and free shipping, the only thing that we can show is that the customer love spending less, but this is obvious since the grocery is a commodity business. More, what I think is that this test doesn’ t show anything because the important thing to test is not that people love to spend less money, but that we are able to achieve this value proposition (differently from lots of grocery startups that can’t).What do you think about this situation? I’m a dumb and a pessimistic and my cofounder is right? Opinions? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
