I recently needed to create a promo video for a new product.I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars hiring and managing a video professional, and I didn't want to spend several weeks either learning Final Cut and Motion to create a professional looking video.So I turned to my favorite tool to see what I can do with it, and to my surprise, I was able to create a professional looking promo video with motion graphics and animations in less than a day using just Apple Keynote.I didn't even have to use a video editing tool.The final video is 2-minute long, and took less than 8 hours to finish.Here is the process that I followed:1- Create a high level outline for the video: problem, solution, benefits, how it works, how to get it. ~ 30 minutes2- Turn the outline into a script by using a 3-column spreadsheet with 3 columns for scene, description, and action. ~ 30 minutes3- Draw high level layouts for each scene. Using a marker will prevent you from losing yourself in the detail ~30 minutes4- Record a voice-over (I use the voice notes app on my iPhone) and add it to your presentation in the Document > Audio tab: Doing this early in the process will help you figure out the timing for each scene. ~15 minutes5- Grab a soundtrack from your favorite royalty-free music service, and add it to your presentation in the same tab as last step. If you already have a voice-over, reduce the volume of your soundtrack to 10%-15% ~15 minutes6- Create a new slide for each scene, add shapes, text, images and videos. Make good use of the Format > Image and Format > Video tools available on the right panel. You can mask images, remove their backgrounds, trim videos, etc. all within Keynote ~ 2 hours7- Animate each scene using Build In, Build Out, and Magic Move transitions, then tweak the animation order and timing using the Build Order panel. ~2 hours8- Record a live slideshow using Document > Audio > Record…, and while the voice-over and soundtrack are playing, press the space bar to advance through your scenes in sync with them. ~15 minutes9- Export your movie as a slideshow recording and upload it to YouTube, Instagram, etc. (make sure you adjust the slide size to match your target video resolution before step 6).Best of luck! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
