Quitting my corporate banking job and launching a start up overseas.

Originally intended as a crosspost from another subWho I am:I'm an associate in corporate banking. I'm FO but not senior enough to drive origination.I'm personable, good with client interactions, a problem solver with greater initiative.I'm a top performer and I feel past the new graduate stage of my career, I broke into corporate banking late as an unconventional hire.I feel some confidence in securing the same job when if things go wrong.I have a house deposit amount of savings from good luck in speculating and managing lifestyle creep. My personality has always been inclined to entrepreneurship, I started a successful small business while in college that funded my studiesMy parents are both successful entrepreneurs and raised me with a lot exposure to their work. This project has nothing to do with them but I think it would be silly to pretend this isn't an influencing factor. What I'm doing:I've began upending my life and quitting my job to found a start up.I found a great tech cofounder, he's experienced in self made ventures since dot com boom, we get along good as friends too. He is a bit of a stubborn STEM personality but ultimately reasonable and I'm prepared to work with that. Our product is 80% the way there (expecting launch in 3 months, add another 3 months for expected difficulties) and I've gotten some expressions of interests from a few Angel investors. (total ~$400k).The product right now is a beta and already able to generate a small stable cash flow stream but will really need to raise money to scale in the future. This cashflow is enough to sustain a modest but reasonable living in a developing country where we plan to bootstrap.I genuinely believe this is a project with a real future, but we will need to scale it to make it. My gut says we have a 20% chance of making it through 2 years at least. Why am I doing this:I feel my marginal utility in life at this point isn't from an additional dollar, but from additional freedom and choice in my life.I think my risk reward calculus here is very favorable and everything else is emotional. As a millennial I don't think a corporate banking career is gonna cut it for me in the next 30 years. It already doesn't provide the life older bankers have and it will probably only get worse in another 30.Lending really feels like I'm dealing with the DMV everyday for a living, and the bureaucratic personalities of this industry is too soul crushing to face for rest of my life.Banking also no longer has the charm and excitement it did for me as a grad, its stale and I feel over it.I considered lateraling into MM IB for a challenge but I just don't think the hours justify it, more importantly banking doesn't seem glamorous to me anymore. Why quit your job now not later?I sense doing long distance with my cofounder has added a huge toll the our communication given his personality, and I sense its a matter of time before it creates problems.Banking is extremely stringent with regulations and employment terms, I'm worried if in the off chance my venture takes off, it will create risks in the future that I launched it while employed.I will be raising funds as a primary objective once we launch, and this I believe will be an absolute no no for my current job.Splitting my attention between the two is unfair on both my cofounder and my team at work, I am struggling to juggle both at the same time especially with current deal flow.I feel terrified but believe this opportunity has reached a point where I have to be decisive sooner or later. I have to cross the Rubicon within 2 weeks and put in my notice. I've received a lot of encouragement from my mentors who are self made businessmen. My conclusion is to be decisive, and go all in on this for 6 months, and if we miss milestones completely. Come back and reboot my career in banking. Why this thread?I really wanted to type out all the thoughts in my head in one place, and reach out to other risk adverse personalities like myself who may have done similar things here. Most entrepreneurs online seem to be either tech people who are culturally different, or non professional backgrounds who had lower opportunity costs.I know the burden to raise and sell is entirely on me in this project, I truly believe I am as good as anyone out there and on my best days deliver beyond. It is however an open and daunting task once I run out of my existing network, I have some ideas, but I really want to have a solid 6 month game plan for this. I fear not having a solid actionable framework or battle plan before 2 weeks time would be a set back. For everybody else that is a regular here, we probably aren't too different. Imagine you are me and you are in this situation personally. What would you would do to survive here. Not "I would stick with my job" but your life depends on this and you NEED to make this project work.I would appreciate any personal experiences/takes on the above. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
