Looking to start a sport clothing/equipment store. Is social + blog a good way to start?

Have been wanting to start an online store around a particular sport I'm into as a hobby. Haven't had the time to even think it all out yet. But was considering just launching a blog and IG/social to start growing a community in the meantime.Is this something people are still doing? I figure if I can grown a decent following, then it should make the launch easier.Anyone else took this route recently? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
