The first sales email ever sent was in 1978 by Gary Thuerk. Sent to 400 recipients, this email resulted in 40 demos (10% conversion) and $12m+ in sales! Taking into account inflation, that’s equivalent to about $78.8m today. That's massive...Out of the 400 e-mails Thuerk sent out, he received only a few complaints. "The best complaint came from a guy at the University of Utah, who said when he got in the office in the morning, he couldn't use his computer because the spam had used up all his company's disk space." Anyway, a few days after the original e-mail, an ARPAnet representative (the institution responsible for the email service at that time) made him promise never to do it again. Here's how the email looked like. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
