Will we ever have a time where .co or .io is a normal thing for everyone (the general public) to see and not be confused by?We have a world of options for domains now because of all the added suffixes/Top Level Domains to choose from, but you still have to use .com to be taken seriously. That in an of itself is annoying, because with all the new ones, you can basically have any company name you want and not have to use a goofy filler word like "get" or "app" at the beginning to get the domain, but you can't even use them. Just feels like such a waste of a some really concise domains that could be had.Even being able to use a ".co" domain would open up a world of options, but if you have a company with a website that will be used by anyone over the age of 30, you just have to get a .com.I am trying to figure out company names ideas, and all my good ideas that even though I know are for sure gonna be taken, I check anyway, and 95% of the ones I look up aren't being used for anything. Some random guy just owns it, and has for years, and it just auto-renews yearly. People squatting on them with a for sale thing is extremely annoying, but I also understand that it's like real estate in a way, so it would be pretty messed up to prevent that (even though I think it would be for the best). But quite often, it's just a blank, or mostly blank page with no way to buy it, no way to get in touch with anyone, it's just unused for years, and likely always will be.There are some countries that have laws or heavy taxes to prevent people from just owning land/real estate and not using it to prevent things like this. I understand that something like that for domains would just be impossible, but it would change things so much. I'm pretty sure what would happen is that people would just buy a $30 template and put some half ass store or blog up in 2 hours so that now it is technically "in use" and there would be no real feasible way to police the ambiguity of that, but I can still daydream.Maybe in 50 years, someone like my 60 year old mother can see a tier 2 TLD such a .co, or .io, and not get confused or assume it's something sketchy.
