Payroll vs Payroll taxes (n00b question)

Hi, all! I'm a small business and just now am thinking of hiring someone on a part-time basis. However, I've never done payroll stuff before. I did a google and found a free (up to 25 ppl) payroll service online. However, they say that they don't do the payroll taxes for free and you need to set up your own ACH or send out paper checks. This makes me confused:What would such a payroll service actually do if taxes and sending out payments isn't included? Is this a ripoff to get you to sign up for their tax and/or direct deposit service? They say they provide you with forms for free, tho, but I'm wondering if the forms are worth the hassle. How hard is it to do your own payroll taxes if someone else already handles your "payroll"? How would this be different from the employee just telling me how many hours they worked?I guess I'm confused on what "payroll without taxes" actually means. I thought someone doing your payroll equated to them doing all the tax deductions and/or direct deposits.Sorry for the n00b question.Note: they also want you to download and install their software, which sounds even more fishy. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
