The other day I had a meeting with a potential client who was interested in learning more about SEO services for her flooring business. Prior to this meeting, I had sent her some information on her industry search volume, her local competition, and a variety of other things but when the meeting started I could tell she was still a little foreign to the concept of SEO still, and I mean rightfully so it's my job to teach her and it's her job to install floors so I didn't expect her to be some expert of SEO just from one video. Now as this meeting progressed I could tell she was starting to get more interested and began asking more questions about budget, leads per month, and time frame. When she asked time frame I told her it could be 6 months or more (I've seen it happen earlier I tend to promise the worst and deliver better) and being a small business owner on a limited budget I could tell that really took her by surprise. Anyway, while we were wrapping up the meeting she told me "Justin look I really think this is important for my business but 6 months is a long investment with no promised return during that time". I assured her that I understood and even though she couldn't hire me I then walked her through a list of all the things she could do right now on her own for free and gave her my number in case she needed any help or had questions in the future. She thanked me and said it really meant a lot that even if I couldn't do her SEO for her I was still willing to guide her and show her how it's done. The moral of the story here is that everyone deserves to sit at the table, and everyone can get fed without having to worry about starving. Her business needed help and she couldn't financially afford it, and while some of you may have said "Hey why not just do it for free" the point is I offered her a helping hand and showed her how to do these things to help her business at no charge. I think it really annoys me that many people rather sell a service that a business owner doesn't need or just not offer any help at all solely because they aren't getting paid. Start helping and stop selling. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
