Has starting and running your own business, or perhaps navigating the gig economy as a solo self-employed person/freelancer, made you realise that you are stronger than you believed you were?I think it takes a particular type of person to work for themselves, because:You need to always deal with the possibility that any potential clients you end up discussing potential projects with, might end up not making use of your services even after long and hopeful discussions; You might have to chase clients who fail to pay you on time - with no guarantee they will ever cough up, meaning you could have worked hard on a project for only a deposit or nothing at all;One month you could make lots of money, the next few consecutive months you could make very little or even absolutely nothing; You might not have a consistent portfolio of clients to work with and struggle finding new ones; You have to learn how to be an expert budgeter - managing all of your finances on a daily basis and making sure the books/records are constantly kept up to date/make sure you pay your taxes on time; You might very well (probably will?) run at a loss for the first year or so of establishing yourself ;You need to be open to investing a lot of time to upskilling, training and possibly even taking up more qualifications in order to stay in the game and deal with competition; You need to be able to manage your time effectively and efficiently consistently, as well as ensuring your mindset is in the same frame round the clock - not having a boss watching over you doesn't mean you can slack; You need to not be afraid of , and dare I say, even accepting and welcoming of failure. If you're someone who gives up too easily or isn't resilient, or breaks down into tears when things seem to stall/be going down south for a long period, you will absolutely self-destruct. You need to accept that failure oftentimes goes with the territory; You need to be okay with being alone for very long periods. This one particularly applies to the solo self-employed/freelancers/sole traders/"solopreneurs", etc. If you're the extrovert who just constantly needs interaction with other people on a constant basis, and hate working all by yourself - then entrepreneurship (as a one-man or one-woman band, at least) isn't for you.And many other reasons, of course! see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
