Can I Wholesale a product from China directly to the retail store location in USA?

My first guess is this can get real sticky real quick. If im operating out of one small office space and simply drop shipping an entire order from China then what happens if it gets rejected or even damaged and I have no actual warehouse space to take the returns?Im sure some people out there have found a sufficient way to do this.
