Hi folks, long time lurker, first time question-asker.My cloud consulting business is growing, and I want to find someone in the UK to work with me on a casual basis.I started Beaty Consultancy as a side hustle in 2018, and it has grown since. Now, I literally don't have any more time to dedicate to new customers, but I want to keep growing, so I need another technician to delegate tasks to.I have run technical teams in the past, so I'm happy that I would manage a team in this way - although previous teams weren't remote, so I'm sure that will bring unique challenges. I have one or two offshore resources I can call on from time to time, but I feel like I would rather spend a bit more time and energy to help develop skills and talent here in the UK.Ideally, I would find a current student who wants to pick up sysadmin type tasks in the evenings and weekends, and who could grow their skills within the business. Who knows, by the time they graduate, we might be in a position to hire them full-time. From past experience, I feel like I just need to find the person with the right attitude and a head for problem solving, rather than someone with lots of experience. I think I am good at setting out systems and processes to keep people on the rails, so to speak, so I do feel like I could focus this type of person and help them to develop in this industry.So my questions are:Does this seem like a reasonable idea to have, or should I just concentrate more effort on finding reliable, cheap, offshore resource? And if so, does anyone have any recommendations?Do students want to take on work like this? Is it appealing in the way I think it would have appealed to me when I was a student, or am I just old and looking back with rose tinted glasses?Are there any significant pitfalls of this approach - other than my target pool of potential recruits not having any/much work experience, so potentially needing lots of management, at least in the beginning?Should I be looking at the Kickstarter scheme instead?And finally, if you've followed my thought process to here, and you agree this might be a good place to look for talent, how do I find these people?Thanks so much for reading, and I'm really looking forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions. see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
