One of my school friends who I haven't been in touch with for over 25 years connected with me on LinkedIn. Seeing that it was a childhood friend, I did what a moron would do. I invited him over to my house. I knew he was working in broadcast media earlier so I thought it would be great to connect. He came home, I offered him lunch, some whisky and we chatted about old times, and he went back home. I thought it was a nice day. Then he texts me the same evening asking if he can have one of my laptops. I have many in a rack and I explained to him that I need all these for my work. Then he asked if I can write an experience letter for him stating that he worked at my company for 3 years. I said that's not possible because there's no proof of a salary paid and it would be illegal to create a fake document anyway. Then he asked if I can loan him money but I don't have spare cash around since it's mostly all invested in the business and I live frugally and some of my expenses are on the business account.A few days pass and he messaged again saying "Hey how are you? How's it going?" and when I responded saying I'm good and asked how he is, he immediately asked if I can loan him money. This went on and on and it finally registered to me after the 10th time, that he only reaches out to me when he needs money and he doesn't give a shit about me, so I started ignoring him. He also doesn't seem to understand that he keeps asking me when I'm in the middle of my work and I find the constant messaging disruptive. This has now evolved into abuse and threats. I'm not concerned about him doing any physical harm to me but I'm worried that he can go around and try to damage my company's reputation by posting some bullshit about me and my company to social media and LinkedIn since he's so full of bitterness.Anyone else have any LinkedIn horror stories to share? see hubwealthy.com/wealthy
